Dancers at the AFN, Fairbanks Alaska 2010

     22 different villages from all over Alaska gather together for conferences, arts and crafts, and dancing.  These dancers are from Kodiak island.  To the beat of the drums they "motion" dance to stories about fishing. whaling and hunting.  A real treat to see all of these different tribes gathered together in one place.  Next time I will take video's as I learned very quickly that this was the only way to really see the beautiful hand motions to the drums.  I have never seen costumes like these.  The striking white arctic fox fur on the black background was impressive the way you only saw the white fur moving and dancing to the beat of the drums.

  I was so excited to get  this awesome shot of Mt. McKinley.   Driving from Willow, about an hour and a half north of Anchorage,  to Fairbanks, Alaska.  Suddenly there it was... looming beautifully above the landscape-WOW clear as a bell and gorgious.  Let's see what there is to do in Fairbanks, Alaska.  We shall visit Pike's waterfront lodge, the Turtle Club and this great little thai restaurant.  It is still fairly nice so we want to hurry and get there before we hit a bunch of ice and snow!

Possible destroying Angels in my back yard!

One of these small mushrooms can kill a big person!  When in doubt throw it out....that is what the mushroom guys say!  "All that the rain promises" is the funest books I have ever had..if you are interested in mushroom hunting.  But do be exceedingly CAREFUL!

GIANT VEGIES from Alaska

It may be dark here in the winter but in the summer there is alot of sunlight--the result is giant vegies!  You  could ride around in this 902 lb pumpkin!!
